걸어온 길

He lived in the United States, returned to Korea with Bang Jun-seok and formed the band U&Me Blue. The band released albums in 1994 and 1996 but drew little attention at the time.

In December 2003 he resumed his music career with his 1st solo album 《이날, 이때, 이즈음에》. His deep low register and clear high notes are cited as his trademarks.

He released his 2nd album 《In Exchange》 in 2007 and was named Musician of the Year at the Korean Music Awards the following year. His 2011 3rd album 《Why We Fail》 won Best Modern Rock Album in 2012.

He sang several OSTs, including 〈날아〉 for the drama 〈Misaeng〉. Since 2018 he has hosted EBS FM's 〈Yi Sung-yol's World Music Journey〉.
